Every child is born with a choice, but because a child cannot speak at birth, gives no one the right to decided the child's life.
There is a saying that ‘it is what is given to a child, that determines what the child becomes', therefore Mutilation plays a very big role in the life of children and individuals and we will categorically examine the goodness of mutilation as well as the great harm it has done or can cause in lives of children in our social strata.
This article will strive to bring to the knowledge of the public, the various effects that mutilation of the genitals can cause and the need to put absolute end to it Mutilation comes in two forms: for the male child and for the female child. Both categories will be examined but the female will ecamined intensely and we will seek to derive knowledge from these things that take place in our society today.


Before moving forward, it would be improper not to define the terms correctly to foster better understanding of what is being written down here. An in-depth knowledge is required by individuals to know when something is going wrong, or when something has gone wrong with a child.

The word ‘mutilation’ is defined as cutting; it is as simple as that. To ‘mutilate’ means to remove it in the Hebrew word ‘circumcise'.
The dictionary further explains ‘mutilation' to be a form of harming or inflicting pain on an individual. It also means to disable a vital part of the body or to destroy is to the extent that it can no longer be recognized.
The synonyms for mutilation in the dictionary is maim, mangle.

We have a keen knowledge on what it means to mutilate with the help of the lay man's definition and of the dictionary.
It is therefore compulsory that we move further to explain what ‘Genital Mutilation is'.

Genitals can be defined in the ordinary context as private part. It is known as the private region of either a man and a woman. Men and women possess different types of genitals. For example the male genitals is the penis and balls sack while the female genitals is her vagina.

This can be described as a process whereby part of the skin of the private region of either a male or a female is cut out by a sharp object, which in-turn causes bleeding, and sometimes if not done by an expert, it results into infection and in some extreme cases — death.

Genital Mutilation was rampant in the dark ages and is still very much in use in some other parts of the country, Nigeria.
Genital Mutilation originated from the East-West part of South Africa, in (800BCE-350CE), before Islam came into existence as a way of increasing the paternity rate in the country.
A historian named Mary knight gave the name ‘hieroglyphs’ to a girl who is uncircumcised.

Now lets skip history and go to how this act is done i prefer to call it obsolete

A girl is asked to sit on a chair, and assured that the process was for her own benefit and would make her an upright woman. Men who are strong enough would then be asked to hold her down to prevent the interruption of the process.
Her pant is removed and her legs spread wide apart for the startup of the ritual. The clitoris is the first thing to be cut off, then a cold substance is put on it to make the bleeding stop immediately.....boom that is it the harm is done,the natural way of derieving undeniable sexual pleasure is mutilated without her consent because she's just a child 😯

What is Female Genital Mutilation
This can also be called female genital circumcision. It is observed as a kind of ritual performed on the female child whereby, the external organs of a girl child is cut off or removed using a sharp object. This is usually done at infancy, as a grown woman would not be able to stand for such torment.
Female Genital Mutilation is very common in Africa, Asia and the Middle east. In other words, Female Genital Mutilation is a common practice in African countries.

A campaign was done recently to stop the archaic act of female mutilation as it does more harm than good to women, but usually the people who engage in such activities are oblivious or ignorant of this fact.
In most cases, hospitals do not engage in Females Mutilation, otherwise, it is done by a traditional medicinal or traditional worshipper, who makes use of a sharp blade to cut off the clitoris of a female at birth, just before puberty starts. The labia: both outer and inner are removed in the process and the vulva is then closed, thereby leaving a tiny opening where she can pass urine and blood during her period.
This is usually said to be done to control the sexual life of a girl-child so as for her not to be wayward. In the olden days, it was believed that Female Mutilation will help to control the sexuality of a girl-child and keep her in check.

*The clitoris which is the center for pleasure for a woman, when cut off can never give her sexual satisfaction*
* It involves excruciating pain for the girl child just because shes can't verbally express her feeling just through sounds tears and crys
*It can lead to barrenness*
* It can lead to anger and frustration from the girl child*
* It could lead to depression for a female child when she is unable to get satisfaction from sexual activities*
*It could lead to brain damage or madness for some women*


People who are found in this situation usually do not conform with society,It could bring about isolation and self rejection
FGM can lead to self inflicting pain on one’s elf to show that one is not good enough
..Now this point is very important for every woman,truly have being talking about sexual pleasures....It could lead to broken homes for women as they cannot enjoy their husband's they feel less if a woman,insecurity sets in,they feel they are to be blamed for every mistake their man make because ..they are victims of fgm and would want to leave.

* It is said to reduce the risk of cancer of the vagina to the lowest term or form*
* It is known to have a strong protection against herpes in females*
*t prevents the occurrence of Genital ulcer, because the genitals are removed*
* It reduces the fish of candida growth in women*

According to the people who engage in it, it is believed to be beneficial because it helps to cub the sexual desires of a woman

In conclusion, let's put a stop to this archaic practice as youth growing let's kick against it for our children be it male or female because the demerit are more than the merits for instance It causes bad development in girls; puberty stage
Girls are reduced to nothing with the idea of this mutilation as they are not given the chance to choose what they want,It increases the rate of slavery for women, as it bounds and confines them
Fgm produces not confident but low self esteem women in the society
Wow It aids in miscarriage from time to time and lastly It results in low character formation on women
