Chief Olu Falae has said Fulani herdsmen who burnt down his farm did so to plant grass for their cattle to eat.
While speaking with PUNCH, Falae said Sunday’s attack will be the third time the attackers will be destroying his farm.
Suspected Fulani herdsmen had invaded Falae’s farm Sunday evening, setting ablaze the about five hectares oil palm plantation.

A source who spoke with SUNSHINE HERALD confirmed the attack. He said there was no one on the farm when the attacked took place.
“I don’t know why the herdsmen were attacking my farm; they did it last year, they did the same year before the last.
“That is how they burn it every year so that fresh grass can come out for their cattle to eat.
“They attack my oil palm cultivation; the mature oil palm trees that have been bearing fruits to make palm oil have been burnt down.
“This is a wicked act and malicious damage. This goes beyond what their cattle want to eat.
“Cattle don’t eat oil palm. This is a malicious attack,” Falae told PUNCH.
Chief Olu Falae was also kidnapped at his farm September 21, 2015, and was released after a ransom of five million naira was reportedly paid.
When SUNSHINE HERALD called the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Femi Joseph, he said he had not been briefed about the attack.
He promised to get back to our reporter when he has enough information.
