Police brutality:policeman battered lawyer to pulp

A Warri-based lawyer, Kelly Buluku, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, alleging that he was manhandled, beaten to a pulp and handcuffed by a policeman at the Warri ‘B’ Division, Delta State, during a visit to the station to facilitate the release of a client allegedly involved in illegal oil bunkering.

Buluku, through his counsel, Oghenejabor Ikimi, stated that the Investigating Police Officer, IPO, slapped, hit, forced him to sit on the bare floor and then handcuffed him for about four hours over a “false allegation of trying to bribe the IPO.”

Ikimi said Buluku is receiving medical attention as “he is in severe pains and cannot hear well on his left ear.
“We demand that the erring officer, who the DPO, ‘B’ Division, Warri, is currently shielding, be investigated.”
